After the death of Joe (Kyle Chandler), his older brother, Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck), shocked by the news that his brother gave him custody of his son Patrick (Lucas Hedges), back in the family area. Lee throws everything and moves to Manchester-by-the-Sea, forced to deal with the events of the past, which made it separated from his wife - Randi (Michelle Williams) and left the town where grew up.

Znakomity. Ponadczasowy i bardzo głęboki obraz relacji rodzinnych. Świetnie zagrany.
Film nie spełnił moich oczekiwań. Znając obsadę (Williams, Affleck) można było mieć nadzieję na więcej. Fakt, że scena spotkania byłych małżonków jest cudowna, ale jedna scena to za mało, w związku z czym cały film oceniam jako taki sobie. Jakoś trudno mi było się zaangażować w historię bohaterów. A nominacji dla Lucasa Hedgesa nie rozumiem. Może za wiele wymagam.
Dawno nie widziałam takiego udanego połączenia tragizmu z humorem. Film ani przez chwilę nie usuwa się w kicz i patos. Piękny, niejednoznaczny, bez szans na happy end, ale oczyszczający.
