One of the most anticipated and the biggest Polish production in recent years. Film John Komasa, creator of award-winning blockbuster "Suicide Room", is made with a flourish a universal story about love, youth, courage and sacrifice, taking place during the Warsaw Uprising.
"City 44" is a film project of unprecedented momentum in Poland scenograficznym, costume and visual. Consultant for special effects was a prominent Hollywood specialist Richard Bain, who previously worked with such visionaries of cinema, like Christopher Nolan, Peter Jackson and Terry Gilliam and has output effects to global blockbusters including "Casino Royale", "Inception" "King Kong" and "Les Misérables". By plan scrolled over 3 000 extras. Construction of impressive decoration took up 10 separate teams, which staged the destroyed city used the 5 000 tonnes of rubble. Cast was selected in a series of nationwide auditions, which were attended by more than 7 000 people.
A special screening of "City 44" was held at the National Stadium in Warsaw, as part of the official celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. This is the first event of this scale not only in the history of Polish cinema, but also on the map of Europe. The film was seen by approx. 12 000 people. Among them, the insurgents occupied a place of honor, who came from all over the world. Screening of "City 44" was a symbolic tribute to their courage and heroism.
"City 44" will go to a regular theatrical distribution 19 September 2014 year.
"City 44" is not a historical film or documentary about the course of the Uprising. Although the fighting takes place in the City, tells the story of the people and not branches or barricades. "City 44" does not have to be an argument in insurgent discussion. The film is to communicate emotions, and not weigh right decision whether to reveal the inside story from 70 years ago.
