Deeply personal film about love, friendship and betrayal, in the shadow of the Israeli security fence. Palestinian candidate for an Oscar, winner of the Special Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival.
Omar is a baker in occupied Palestine. It lands on the other side of the resistance, which has to face difficult decisions. His friends are captured and subjected to torture must choose between loyalty and life. Suspicion and betrayal would test his trust in friends from childhood. Standing on different sides of the wall, Omar and his beloved brother combatant, Nadja, are fighting for the freedom of another. Omar argues that whether someone is an enemy, depends on the circumstances. Torture and humiliation undermine faith in the honor and sense of sacrifice at all costs. He says: "The film is about the power of trust. About how important it is in relationships and how fleeting. It is the foundation of love, friendship and loyalty. This mirage and makes reaching the extremes of human emotion."
