The film tells the story of Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young maidservant who works in the middle-class dominated Roma neighborhood in Mexico. The director paints in his film a vivid and moving image of home tensions and changes in the social hierarchy against the background of the political chaos of the '70s. Roma is also to be full of artistry and love by the letter of Cuarón to women who have been brought up.

Netflix acquired the rights to distribute "Roma" during the Cannes festival in 2018. The film will debut at the Venice Film Festival in August 2018, in autumn it will also be presented at festivals in New York, Toronto and Telluride, after which it will hit the streaming platform. Netflix users will be able to see it in December 2018.
