"I don't care if we go down in history as barbarians." These words, spoken by Marshal Ion Antonescu in the Romanian Council of Ministers in the summer of 1941, began "self-cleaning actions" carried out together with Germany in Bessarabia and Transnistria.
The story revolves around the young theater director Marianna Marin, who is trying to reconstruct the capture of Odessa in 1941 by the Romanian army, when a huge bomb exploded after the city was seized (radio-fired by the NKVD), and the hecatomb of the Jewish population became the effect.
The ambitious and inquisitive artist, however, meets with ostracism on the part of her own actors, as well as pressure from the local official Movila.
